Salman comes to prisoners' rescue, offers money to pay their fine

Salman Khan's charitable foundation 'Being Human' has reportedly offered to pay Rs. 40 lakh on behalf of 400 prisoners who are languishing in 63 different jails in Uttar Pradesh for non-payment of fine.

These prisoners are generally those who have served more than their jail term because they cannot pay their fine due to poverty or some other reason.

The superstar, who himself had experienced life behind the bars, looks forward to free these inmates and his organisation has written to jail authorities offering their help.

In 2002, Salman was arrested for rash and negligent driving after his car ran into a Mumbai bakery.

Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him, but later dropped after he was found not guilty.

In 2006, Salman was sentenced to one year in prison for hunting a Chinkara but was granted bail after spending three days in prison.

Salman and the jail authorities are now awaiting the legal green signal and a no objection certificate (NOC) from the administration.

Kareena's bum is a perfect 10 on 10!

Kareena Kapoor is cool about watching Saif Ali Khan doing intimate scenes with other hotties of Bollywood and says she knows how hot Saif can be bare-bodied.

The bold utterances were part of a talk show on the Zee channels to be aired soon.

The gorgeous Kareena Kapoor, the mischievous Imraan Khan and the devil’s advocate Karan Johar makes for an amazing talk show.

That much was expected. What wasn’t expected was the extent of bold fun that happened. The three stars had got together for “A date with Ek Main aur Ekk Tu’ – a show to be “simulcast” on ETC, Zee TV, Zing, Zee Café, Zee Studio, Zee Trendz and Zee Khana Khazana on Feb 4 at 7PM.

“How do you feel when you see Saif in an intimate scene with another hot actress? Say in Race 2, Saif has a bare-body scene with a Deepika in bikini, what would be your first thought?” asked Karan.

“I’d be like ‘wow! How hot Saif looks’,” said Kareena, adding, with a twinkle in her eye, “I know how he looks bare bodied!”

Probed further, Kareena revealed, “I am quite secure in my relationship with Saif and though I don’t want to say too much too soon, I am quite content!”

The mood for the show was set early on when KJo asked Imraan if he’d thought of undergoing therapy for OCD. “Never, I quite enjoy being obsessively organized,” replied Imraan without batting an eyelid.

As the chat proceeded it appeared Karan had touched a raw nerve when he told Imraan, “Kareena postponed dates for Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu as she preferred doing Bodyguard first. She chose Salman over you!”
Never the one to be flustered, Imraan shot back, “If you’ve to lose, that’s someone to lose to!”

Having failed to get the better of Imraan, KJo trained his guns on Kareena.

And for all those people who were missing Karan Johar's famous rapid fire round, this session with the season’s hottest jodi, Imraan and Kareena will definitely leave u begging for more.

Their tongue in cheek replies will definitely set new standards in the industry. Rechristened the Quick Fire round, KJo asked Imraan what was the one thing he wouldn’t want to change in Kareena.

Not missing a beat, Imraan replied, “Her bum! It’s a perfect 10 on 10!” While a visibly embarrassed Kareena covered her face, Karan was left speechless!

On being asked about his views on money for sex, a straight faced Imraan shot back, “Depends on how much you are offering!”

If that wasn’t enough, Karan asked Imraan what he expected to find if he walked into Ranbir Kapoor’s bedroom. A thoughtful Imraan pondered, “It’s hard to say … a big baby…”

I won't mind if Saif gets intimate with Deepika too: Kareena

Kareena Kapoor doesn't get jealous easily. The actress says she is happy and content in her relationship with beau Saif Ali Khan.

Kareena shared her sentiments in a casual tete-a-tete with her friend and "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu" producer Karan Johar for "A date with Ek Main aur Ekk Tu" - a show to be simulcast Feb 4 on ETC, Zee TV, Zing, Zee Cafe, Zee Studio, Zee Trendz and Zee Khana Khazana.

Johar asked Kareena - "How do you feel when you see Saif in an intimate scene with another hot actress? Say in 'Race 2', Saif has a bare-body scene with a Deepika in bikini, what would be your first thought?"

To which, Kareena replied: "I'd be like 'Wow! How hot Saif looks', " and added: "I know how he looks bare bodied!"

On a serious note, she said: "I am quite secure in my relationship with Saif and though I don't want to say too much too soon, I am quite content!"

Recently Saif admitted how he thinks Kareena looks best only with him, and not with any of the other Khans of Bollywood that she has worked with.

Underworld to rule the Bollywood in 2012

This year will see several Bollywood films narrating the untold stories of real life mafia

When Bhiku Mhatre called himself the King of Mumbai, it sent shivers down the spines of many wannabe gangsters, on and perhaps even off screen. That was 14 years back.

Though Ram Gopal Varma himself is skeptical about being able to bring Satya back to life, the mysterious tales of the mafia continue to fascinate filmmakers.

Attracting applause to a stylishly shot gang war sequence, cut to a remixed retro number, is probably on the wish list of every other filmmaker these days.

Gangs on the silver screen

No wonder why bombs and bloodshed or even dons and their molls, promise to rule the big screen in 2012.
So while we see a younger, more vulnerable, Vijay Deenanath Chauhan back to take his big revenge against the local mobster in Agneepath, we also see Akshay Kumar play Dawood Ibrahim's onscreen avatar in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2.

 Hrithik in Agneepath

While Zilla Ghaziabad recreates the rivalry between two real-life gangs in Ghaziabad, Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur talks about the unsolved mysteries of the coal mafia in Jharkhand.

Says Milan Lutharia, "Gangsters have always lent themselves to larger than life cinema. I believe characters who are on the other side of law are much more interesting to the audience and the underworld provides perfect fodder for such stories." However, though the genre remains the same, the plot is also heavily subjective to what the filmmaker wants to show.

Like the OUATIM sequel, which will primarily be about a love triangle involving two men in positions of power in the underworld.

Sanjay Dutt on the sets of Zilla Ghaziabad

Or even Sanjay Gupta's Shootout at Wadala that promises to be an elaborate recounting of the famous Indian dacoit Manya Surve's life. Adds Gupta, "During his time Manya was the only gangster who was a graduate. There are over 820 cases registered against him. So we are getting down to the smallest of small details."

Recreating Satya?

From Deewar to Parinda to Satya, there are too many Indian masterpieces emerging filmmakers go back to, as reference points for the genre. However, many feel that it is difficult to replicate the benchmark these films did.

Says director Karan Malhotra, "I consider Ramu the god of gangster cinema. No one can emulate what he did. But yes, I have a vision, which I have tried to achieve through Agneepath.

The gang-wars in the film do not form the crux of the story, but act as a catalyst." So while they capture the dark deeds of these antiheroes, their glamorous lifestyles play a major part within the film too.

Akshay Kumar's look in Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2

Adds Milan, "In OUATIM, after a long time there was so much colour and extravagance in a film about gangsters. So I think filmmakers are trying to reinvent the genre in their own way."

An offer we cannot refuse

Many of them like director Anand Kumar are also unravelling stories about smaller gangs, that may today just find a mention in the dusty files of local police stations. Kumar's next titled Meerut Junction will be set against the backdrop of the rail mafia.

He adds, " We have extensively researched on the rail mafia and discovered that there are many stories which have never been told. So I decided to make this film." Dibakar Banerjee's next too sketches out the crime scene back when Kolkata was still called Calcutta.

Veena's item number deleted for Anna!

Pakistani actress's song 'Channo' in ‘Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai' was removed from the special screening held for Hazare

Veena Malik's item number Channo in Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai was deleted from the screening held for Anna Hazare.

The film, which takes on corruption, had its cast which included Akshaye Khanna and Mugdha Godse attend the screening at his village Ralegan Siddhi.

The item number has the starlet doing her act during election time to gather more votes for a political party. Now wonder what Anna would have to say to this!

Pooja Bedi asked to wait away from 'Bigg Boss' ending

Pooja Bedi asked to wait away from 'Bigg Boss' ending

Actress Pooja Bedi says she has been asked to abstain from presence the grand finale of Colors' truth show "Bigg Boss 5", in which she was a applicant.

"Have been informed by channel that I'm not to attend finale, despite it being mandatory in my contract! marvel why! Any guesses?" Pooja posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

"Have asked control to state reason I cannot be there at finale to root for my friends on! Also, till yesterday I was to do a mixture! What changed?" she added.

The performer, daughter of veteran actor Kabir Bedi and Odissi exponent Protima Gauri Bedi, trapped limelight for endorsing Kama Sutra in the 1990s, and she went on to be popular for her Marilyn Monroe miniskirt act in "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander".

Pooja entered the "Bigg Boss 5" house Oct 2, 2011, and she was evicted towards the end of November.

Recently, the 41-year-old was in focus for her comments against "Bigg Boss 5" host Salman Khan, as she felt he hurt her fellow inmate and friend, Akashdeep Saigal aka Sky.

It is believed that possibly her explanation didn't go down too well with Salman.

However, in a host of replies to tweets from her fans, Pooja posted: "Never said anything critical about channel or production house! And its my perogative to react to contestants or host of my show. If anchors can be unjust or awful to contestants, contestants have a right to speak up in their or their friends defence!"

"I have requested an authorized explanation from channel, but they haven't given me one yet! Let them decide how to say it. Channel and production never had issues with any of statements I've made! If they had, they'd have intimated me instantly."

According to a tabloid, even Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan's plans of promoting Karan Johar's forthcoming film "Agneepath", on the show have been scrapped.

It is believed Hrithik and Salman share a cold war ever since the former reacted to Salman's comments beside "Guzaarish" director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. So now, Imran Khan will perhaps attend the finale to promote "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu", also produced by Johar.

Post the news, Pooja wrote: "Mumbai Mirror article today! Hrithik not allowed in #BB5 finale! Guess I'm not the only victim! Wow!"

The finale of the realism show is to be held Saturday. Among the final contestants are Juhi Parmar, Amar Upadhyay, Mahek Chahal, Siddharth Bharadwaj and Sky.

Once a feminine follower took off her top in front of me: Atif Aslam

Once a feminine follower took off her top in front of me: Atif Aslam

For a celebrity who can get all the thought he likes with his raspy voice, drop-dead good looks and quick wit, it's surprising that Atif Aslam keeps such a low silhouette. And, he intends to keep it that way.

Gearing up to judge a reality show (though till now he hasn't held reality TV in very high regard), Atif tells CS why he likes to stay low-key, exactly:

Moolah matters not
There's just so much happening in my life that I don't want to add to my problems by discussing things in public. I want to be able to give my time to my mom and dad, my family and friends.

I might get a million roles and songs to do a few years from now, but I won't get this time with my loved ones again. That doesn't mean that I don't like wealth. I want it all, but I'm not in a dash to get it.
Winning fans
Like every one else, I also enjoy the attention that I get from my fans. If they respect your talent, it's great, but I don't like it when they go overboard.

I remember, there was a time when I was performing in Australia when a female fan took off her top in front of me. That felt very peculiar. Then once on my birthday, a collection of girls came to my house and asked for me. And they were only in their underwear.
That's not the kind of attention that I value. But yes, I also have fans doing nice things for me that are civil and mean a lot. I don't consider myself as an icon. I'm not here to win the world, I'm just here to win myself.

 Future fix
Life's been good to me so far. As I look back, this year has truly been special. It brought many surprises -- my debut film Bol happened, I got to perform with Guns N' Roses, became friends with the bandmates, toured odd places like Surinam, Trinidad, Bali and China.

Other than that, I was able to identify a lot of 'distractions' in my life that I needed to get rid of. And I did.

So yes, it's been a very goal-oriented year for me and I'm really looking forward to 2012 too. I don't plan the future, but I would love to go back to places like Japan and Australia and walk on the Bondi Beach.

And next year, I also hope to attend a few concerts like a normal guy and enjoy myself. Oh yes, and I also need to buy myself a new machine.
